Reading activity: Snow White

Play the audio story: Snow White

“Mirror, mirror upon the wall, who is the fairest of all?”
The mirror answered:
“You, oh Queen, are the fairest of all,” and the Queen was contented, because she knew the mirror could speak nothing but the truth.
But as time passed on, Little Snow-White grew more and more beautiful, until when she was seven years old, she was as lovely as the bright day, and still more lovely than the Queen herself, so that when the lady one day asked her mirror…

Does this story sound familiar to you? Yes! You guessed it! It’s the story of Snow White, extracted from Grimm’s Fairy Tales. The teacher will read this story aloud in class while a wide range of images from different sources of the tale will be projected on the whiteboard for you to watch the pictures and follow the narrative in a meaningful way. Once the teacher has finished, you will be asked to cut the text into different pieces and match them with the images already seen in class. Both the story and the pictures can be found on the following link. When you have finished, play the audio story above and check the order of your text pieces!

  1. Hi Alejandra,
Your blog is very attractive with beautiful illustrations.
The Snow White story is interesting and makes for a great activity. The only drawback I can see is that it´s very long and I can imagine children getting restless or bored. Perhaps it could be presented in two shorter parts to keep up the interest.
Conratulations on your blog and if you want to visit mine it´s at seeandsi.blogspot.com.es
    Best wishes
